What is the first thing you think of when you hear Honduras? I can't exactly tell you what everyone thinks.
Some might think Bay Islands, or nice tourist areas, the Mayan ruins even great coffee exporting, etc. Others think of poverty, hunger, violence, natural phenomenons and so on.
It's good to hear beautiful things about my country, after all I am Honduran, but we have to face the fact that as the united people we should be, we have to focus on what we can do about the negative side or situation that Honduran people live on a daily basis.
If you check the newspapers you see various victims of deadly attacks. A woman murdered here, some men killed overthere, children were shot, etc. These headlines are no longer a shock to the Honduran citizens and the only thing that people say is " gracias a Dios que no estuve ahi," or "otro mas." Some say that it is very sad, and so might you, but that is as far as it goes. Who's going to do anything baout it? Not me or you, and it's not because we don't want to (I'm sure noone enjoys seeing people get murdered) it's because we can't. If the authorities or even the president don't do anything, should we just stand watching with our arms crossed waiting for some delincuent to do the same thing to a loved one or worse to me or you?
We are not the power rangers or batman in order to stop these violent acts, therefore my suggestions are the following:
First of all pray as much as you can, live life to the fullest and the one that I think will make the biggest difference, people should be united, instead of separating ourselves form others and only watch out for our own backs, we should always be together. If we support each other, our voices will grow strong and will be heard, who knows, we might actually make a difference. Think about your slef and oyur fellow man because you never know when a tragedy can occur to you!

This article is dedicated to my little cousins and a friend (Kelvin 15, Mirian 17 and dennis 42) who were killed or even worse murdered in a drive by on August of the year 2008. I love you guys and to me you will live on forever. RIP

HEALTH UNFAIRNESS

Sometime's I feel that we Honduran's are criticized because we never take care of our health. Or foreigners might think that our health situation is very low because we are messy or something. Before I use to agree but not now.

Now, I consider that I did some research by mistake.

This is the fourth time this year that I go to what we Honduran's call a health center, which in Spanish will obviously be Centro de Salud. Anyway these health centers are made to help the people in Honduras that are not able to pay a private clinic (almost all Honduran's).

Let me tell you a few things I found out about these HELL centers.

First if you want to be examined by a doctor, you have to be there waiting for them to open up at five A.M., even though they won't open up until seven thirty (remeber Honduran hour)! Step two, you have to take the horribble attitudes that the HELL center employees have, for example they yell at you and basically shut you up (that's only if you're dying and really want to be seen by the doctor). Than if you are soemeone like me, you wouldn't take that attitude from them, so when you go to human resources to tell on them.......THERE IS NOBODY THERE!!!!! Obviously. So what needs to be done than? You put your head down, and walk back to the line where you were being basically insulted and then wait for ten million hours to be seen by the doctor. Well when it's finally your turn, and you are starving also (because if you eat the food they sell there, you will come out sicker than you went in) you thank god! Well you are explaining to the doctor what your problem is when he cuts you right in between of your explanation to talk on the phone, when you go on with your explanation when he's finished, walks in the cleaning lady who brought her cousin's boyfriend because his sick and can you guess what happens next?

Well you guessed right......the doctor checks the cleaning lady's cousin's boyfriend before he checks you. Finally the doctor finishes, checks you up and than writes down the medicines you have to get at the HELL center's farmacy. Thank the lord that you are out, than it turns out that in the farmacy they ran out of the medicine that you need so you need to buy it at another farmacy and actually pay a whole bunch of money.

You realize that the purpose of coming to the free HELL center was because you are broke and you have no money to buy your medication and you get really pissed off because you are starving, still sick and you lost your whole day on nothing.

Now do you see why we Hondurans have no way of being healthy unless we spend all our money at the pharmacy, which is also a mistake because the pharmacist never knows what type of medication should be taken! (But this is another story)

It's the truth guys. This is the reason why these places should be called HELL and not Health Centers. That's why in Honduran women are always pregnant (they aren't able to get birth-control), children are born with birth defects alot more than in other countries, kids are always sick, and so on, you can imagine the rest!

So my suggestion is that people should work their butt off to have a huge bank account so that when they get sick, they have enough money to leave the country and go get cured somewhere else!

La cuarta urna, de que se trata?

Pues mi opinion, y segun lo que escucho, es que nuestro presidente actual, Manuel Zelaya, quiere ser reelegido como presidente para los siguiente cuatro anos. Ahora preguntemonos porque.

Que pasara si eligen a Mel como nuestro presidente de nuevo?

Recordemos que durante siu presidencia todo lo que ha existido en nuestro pais es caos. Me refiero a MAS asesinatos, asaltos, secuestros, huelgas de maestros y empleados de hospitales, etc.

Que se lee a diario en los periodicos?
Bueno en esto opinen ustedes!

Ahora regrasando al punto anterior, lo que yo entiendo de la cuarta urna es que la constitucion sera cambiada, el proposito de este cambio es para que Mel tenga la oportunidad de ser seleccionado de nuevo y tambien pienso que si cambia esta ley en la constitucion tambien cambiara otras, las cuales no ayudaran en nada al pueblo, si no que a si mismo. Despues nos convertiremos en un pais como Cuba y Venezuela, que como ustedes han de escuchar, no le sva muy bien debido a que no reciben apoyo de otros paises.Esto significa que ningun otro pais ayudar al pueblo Hondureno cunado tengamos la necesidad. Tambien recordemos que este pais casi siempre permanece en estado de alerta por los fenomenos naturales que ocurren frecuentemente, entonces que ocurrira despues?
